Dear [Name],
I am excited to let you know that I am playing a part to help the increasing number of Americans affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related illnesses—as a care advocate for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA). I am dedicating my time and effort to this national, nonprofit organization because of its commitment to provide optimal care and services to individuals confronting dementia, and to their caregivers and families.
As part of my dedication to this important cause, I will be holding [event here], with proceeds going to AFA.
This cause means a lot to me because [reason here].
Alzheimer’s disease currently strikes an estimated 5 million Americans, and it is projected that this number will triple to 16 million by mid-century. Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive, degenerative disorder that attacks the brain’s nerve cells, resulting in a loss of memory, thinking and language skills, and behavioral changes. It is estimated that one to four family members act as caregivers for each individual with Alzheimer’s disease.
AFA and its hundreds of member organizations throughout the country are dedicated to improving the quality of life for those affected by this disease. AFA works to achieve this through various programs, including a toll-free hot line, counseling by licensed social workers, a national memory screening initiative, educational conferences, and a free caregiver magazine.
With age the greatest risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease and a projected rise in life expectancy, helping to improve care for this community is more important than ever.
I’m inviting you to support AFA’s efforts to provide care in addition to cure. I hope to raise [amount here]. Please help me achieve this goal by making a donation. Donations are tax-deductible and can be make payable to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. (AFA’s annual report and financial information can be found on its Web site, www.alzfdn.org.)
Thank you for helping us help those with Alzheimer’s disease and their families—because no one should face this disease alone. If you need assistance, please reach out for care…call AFA toll-free at 866.AFA.8484 or visit AFA’s Web site at www.alzfdn.org.
Sincerely,
