Together for Care

Welcome to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America's Together for Care campaign. We appreciate your interest, concern and desire to become involved.

AFA established Together for Care based on the realization that caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or a related illness is a burden we all share together.

This nationwide campaign challenges individuals, community groups, schools, local businesses, corporations, and organizations to:

  • Come together
  • Collaborate
  • Care
Our goal is for this unified effort to produce a seamless infrastructure and funding source for the care needs of America’s families.

Fact:

Alzheimer's currently affects an estimated five million Americans, and the number is expected to triple by mid-century. One in ten Americans aged 65 or older and nearly half of those 85 or older are stricken with this devastating disease.

Nearly everybody knows somebody—a family member, friend, neighbor, co-worker—affected in some way.

It is overwhelming for any family that struggles with this disease—let alone struggling with it alone. With no cure foreseen in the immediate future, care remains the most important issue for our families nationwide.

Fact:

For every individual afflicted with Alzheimer's or a related illness, surveys indicate that one to four caregivers carry the responsibility of care.

These family members and other individuals are thrown into the wilderness of caregiving and decision-making. Attending to someone with dementia is a 24/7 role. Anyone who has lived through the trials of being a caregiver can testify to the weight and gravity of the task.

AFA was established to focus the nation's attention on care, with the intent of uniting grassroots organizations from coast to coast that provide hands-on programs and services for families in need and in crisis.

Now, as the demand intensifies across America, AFA is pressing the case for care even further—with Together for Care.

In the same way that AFA is uniting organizations nationwide, Together for Care hopes to connect individuals, families, community groups, schools, businesses, and corporations across America to give their voice to, and support for, care.

Your commitment will make a difference.
